Arbitration” highlights the best practices followed in bankruptcy and arbitration

Chartered Arbitrators, organized in the Dubai International Financial Center on the sidelines of the “Dubai Arbitration Week” activities, a special discussion session entitled “Arbitration and Bankruptcy”, with the aim of shedding light on the best practices followed in bankruptcy. and arbitration, in addition to introducing the services provided by the center in line with international arbitration standards.

The session began with an opening speech presented by Dr. Asmaa Al-Rasheed, member of the Executive Committee of the Arbitration Center, during which she reviewed the role of the Center, the services it provides, and the work mechanisms followed in dealing with arbitration cases presented to the Center in various sectors.

Emphasizing the center’s mission based on providing international commercial arbitration services in a knowledgeable, innovative, and sustainable manner based on optimal investment of available talents and resources to enhance the economic stability of the business community, and provide added value to the business community in the Emirate of Sharjah and the country as a whole.

Participated in the session that discussed bankruptcy law in the UAE for individuals and companies, which was moderated by Nassif Abu Malhab, member of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Center for International Commercial Arbitration and the main partner at Clyde & Co. in the Middle East, lawyer Nicola Jackson, legal director of Clyde & Co., and lawyer Mohieldin. Al-Banna, founder and CEO of QAF Legal Consulting, and lawyer Robert Sliwinski.

The participants in the session discussed bankruptcy procedures and how arbitration can enter into these cases, as the bankruptcy issue is considered one of the thorny and recent topics in UAE law, as bankruptcy rules require that all lawsuits related to the debtor be considered, researched, and the dispute over them is resolved through one side, which is the court.
